If your students take an interest in learning how to draw a witch for Halloween, here'south a solution that makes the most of all your options out at that place.

This witch tutorial takes the focus off of what her face may or may non wait similar, and has fun with simply her stockings and shoes. Those curly-toed boots make an adorable silhouette, and are skilful symmetry drawing exercise too.

Getting those curves to match takes a scrap of time and practise. Most students though become so excited about drawing these funky shoes that they don't even realize they've just figured out how to describe symmetrical curves, which is ane of the harder things to exercise.

Delight note that if y'all would like to try this with younger classes, say first and 2d grade, I highly recommend that you make a boot template that students can trace and bomb and trace again. While you may have a few students that tin can "see" how to draw the boots on their own, I found that on average, only older students tend to be able to work this out on their ain. Not to worry though, they lesson of symmetry is still there, as they will learn by flipping their template to brand a right and left kick.

This projection has been a favorite of mine for years, and works in all kinds of media. May favorite though, as shown to the right, is with crayon and watercolors. I used real watercolor paper and liquid watercolor paint to get the bright colors shown here. The supplies toll a little more, but are well worth the investment, if you inquire me.

Materials for a Witch Drawing

Eraser. Large ones you can agree in your paw do a much better job than just the pencil tips.

Blackness Sharpie Marker. These fine point permanent marker pens make nice black outlines, have a good tip for coloring, and never bleed when they get wet. Utilize them with good ventilation and add extra paper underneath to protect your tables.

Prang Crayons. These are a fleck softer than other crayons so they sometimes look like oil pastels. They also have a some nice chocolate-brown shades that Crayola does non have unless yous purchase their larger boxes.

Crayola Crayons. The reliable brand that always works well. The 24 pack has some of my favorite golden orangish and yellowish colors that seem a flake richer and warmer than the ones Prang has.
